Behind the scenes Women's Fall 18'

______

November 6, 2018

Topanga Canyon acted as the backdrop to Go Gently Nation’s latest photo shoot. Nestled right at the top of a mountain, the coziest little Airbnb was the basis for the ethereal shoot. With natural light pouring in from all angles and wildflowers climbing the bamboo fence, it was impossible not to feel at one with Mother Nature.
Go Gently Nation consistently delivers the best in sustainable fashion, designed and produced right in Los Angeles, CA. Beginning as a very successful children’s wear line, the women’s line is following suit; offering new and chic pieces to women everywhere. Kristin Coia, founder and lead designer, dives a little deeper  into her experience in creating this season’s Autumn/ Winter line.
 ______

So let’s start off with the inspiration behind this line, what was your vision this season?

This season was all about getting back to nature and becoming one with the outdoors. We wanted to remind our customers to slow down and take some time for themselves. Every piece was designed with comfort in mind. We really took into consideration our silhouettes and aimed to deliver something new for their everyday life. We wanted pieces that would take you from the farmers market to dinner out at a new trendy restaurant.

What sets this season apart from previous collections?

We wanted to show some diversity in our pieces. We have always focused on our stylized basics, which we will continue to do, but we wanted to deliver some new concepts to our customer. We got a little more creative with these pieces and the reaction has been positive so far!

Can you dive a little deeper into this season’s textile choice?

As always, everything is organic cotton based. We introduced a new textile, the organic cotton with hemp mini stripe showcased in many of our woven styles this season. It’s still nice and light but in the darker navy palette it appeals more towards the season. Our team was most excited about our buttons this season. They are created out of coconut shells and no two are exactly the same.

If you had to pick a favorite piece in this collection, what would it be?

The Vintage Dress! Many of our pieces call back to vintage silhouettes and this one is no different. Our designer found a great little dress at a flea market and drew inspiration from it for this style. It is one of those dresses that has subtle details that make it special. with its crossover V neck center front and 3/4 sleeve really modernize the silhouette!

Now let’s talk a little bit about the shoot, how did you decide on your location and concept?

The concept was easy, because our collection is focused on getting back to nature, we wanted to have as much outdoor space as possible, one of the most magical spots in California is Topanga Canyon. It’s so cozy and beautiful, something in the air feels more natural and holistic. We found the perfect Airbnb to host our shoot and our team spent the day in the California sun surrounded by beautiful landscape.

What was you favorite part of the day?

The best part is always seeing everything come together. Just having everything be exactly what you had envisioned is such a great feeling.

What can we expect from next season's collection?

Our spring 19' collection will feature our brand favorite Gauze pieces as well as easy breezy sundresses and woven separates. All of our customer favorites updated for the new season!
